What Is Meika's Fund?

BAM maintains funds donated or earned specifically for Meika's Memorial Medical Fund. The fund supports shelter animals needing emergency medical services and low‑income pet owners who need financial help with veterinary care.

section 1

Why It Was Created

BAM created the fund after seeing shelters, rescues, and individuals struggle to secure timely veterinary treatment for sick or injured animals. A generous startup donation and support from local businesses established a reserve dedicated to animals who might not otherwise receive care.

section 2

How the Fund Expanded

As shelter requests changed, BAM expanded the fund to provide broader veterinary‑care support for low‑income pet owners. Recipients may be asked to give volunteer time back to BAM when possible.

section 3

How Assistance Works

BAM may offer set amounts to shelters or rescues seeking medical support, with larger requests referred to the Board of Directors. Low‑income pet owners whose dog or cat needs unaffordable veterinary care should contact BAM promptly so a representative can assess whether and how the organization can help.

section 4

Give to Meika's Fund

Use BAM's secure online donation form and add a checkout note directing the gift to Meika's Fund. You may also contact BAM before giving if you would like help designating your gift.

In Memory of Meika

Meika, beloved companion of J. Schilling, lived from March 26, 1995 to February 18, 2011. Early supporters of the fund included Zion Harley‑Davidson and Texas Roadhouse.
