BAM was founded in March 2006 by J Schilling after she recognized a need in the community for an animal welfare organization. BAM serves Southwest Utah and beyond as a resource for many companion-animal related issues. All BAM programs and services are fully funded by donations, wills, and bequests, and through the dedication of volunteers. We do not receive any state or federal funding, nor are we a United Way agency. BAM operates as a network of foster homes to assist pets in need of finding their forever homes, and as a network of volunteers to support community programs focused on building strong humane relationships between people and their pets.

The future of Because Animals Matter

Since BAM’s founding, operations have been solely managed by volunteers in donated space, and as a network of foster homes supporting adoptable pets. BAM is now managing the Campaign for Caring to complete a unique facility in downtown Hurricane that will house a main office, training and education space, dog kennels for health assessment and respite care, and an assortment of pet products and services.

Funds are needed to meet the expanding needs of our developing services and community programs. A wide range of naming opportunities and giving are available at every level, from benches and dog runs to entire facility spaces. Whatever the reason for your special gift, from a love of animals to dedication to a person or pet who has touched your life, there are a variety of ways to help with this important project while honoring a loved one.
