ABOUT US
BAM was founded in March 2006 by J Schilling after she recognized a need in the community for an animal welfare organization. BAM serves Southwest Utah and beyond as a resource for many companion-animal-related issues. All BAM programs and services are fully funded by donations, wills, and bequests, and through the dedication of volunteers. We do not receive any state or federal funding, nor are we a United Way agency. BAM operates a small adoption and community outreach center in addition to a network of foster homes to assist pets in need of finding their forever homes. BAM functions as a network of volunteers supporting community programs that focus on building strong humane relationships between people and their pets.

The future of Because Animals Matter
BAM took big leaps for a small organization when hiring its first Adoption Center Manager, Aggie Smith. A couple of years later and after a short stint without a manager in place, we have had the honor to be supported by Julie Simiskey in the role after receiving multiple generous donations that enabled the role to be put in place once again. Since Julie's departure in 2022 we welcomed Wendy Davis (2022-2024), Sherri Krulic filled the spot temporarily in 2024 and our current manager is Victoria Hebenton.
Because Animals Matter hopes to build on the tremendous work of our managers past and present and dozens of dedicated volunteers who aim to support pets in our care and the community as a whole.
Should you have any questions about meeting any pets in either foster care or at the adoption center on State Street, or you're seeking to start your journey as a volunteer or foster family, feel free to reach out by phone or email — Victoria@bamutah.com or 435.773.5209.
