Dog of the month

Cleo had to be named after an Egyptian pharaoh with her striking “eyeliner”. This young adult has a lot of life ahead of her and would love to find someone interested in continuing the basic obedience training she’s

learning in foster care (she already knows “sit” and has mastered puppy dog eyes).

She is a solid girl, but not too tall, and is as affectionate as she is smiley! Cleo enjoys being around her people and will do best in a home without small children. Having another dog as a companion and playmate could be ideal.

We aren't completely sure what breed blend Cleo is but did learn in our adoption center that she's a skilled jumper — though she hasn’t displayed the same when around baby gates in her foster home. Given her abilities, a person or family looking for a walking/hiking companion, or with a tall-fenced yard for her to be outside off-leash would be best. Knowledge or experience with strong breeds would be a bonus for Cleo.

Cleo is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated; her adoption fee is $125.

Don't feel like strutting?

Our dear friend Raven wrote a lovely little plea for support to go along with her upcoming Strut Your Mutt benefit yard sale in Kanab:

I am participating in Strut Your Mutt in Kanab, Utah, and have once again chosen to raise money for our local Best Friends Network Partner, Because Animal Matter, in Hurricane, UT.    They are the wonderful people who rescued my dog Sage from a dire hoarding situation and fostered him with exquisite tender, loving care until the stars aligned for our paths to meet when I wasn't even looking for another dog.   Sage, once terrified of everything, is now strutting around town, going to work with me, and even attended his first National Poetry Convention this year in Santa Fe! A dog once cowering in his crate for most of the day, is now bouncing off the walls, the happiest dog I know!

Last year, we hosted a Community Yard Sale where we recycled gently used items, resold at bargain prices, and were able to raise over $2,000 for BAM!  If you are unable to donate or attend the Yard Sale this year, we welcome you to make a donation of any amount to help us reach our team goal of $5,000, most of which helps to pay on-going veterinary bills.

More than anything else, I want to give back to the organization that has given me the gift of Sage.
