Onyx has gone on tour! His summer working vacation will be featured on a new website that will be launched on Tues. 15 June. He is still a B.A.M. dog, so we get first dibs on the first installment, even if the colors from the new website look a little unusual — an island of green surrounded by a lake of our own B.A.M. blue colors.
Email onyx@becauseanimalsmatter.com and we will pass on your message. His seasonal goal is to find a new family and a new home before he comes back to Utah at the end of the summer. He wants to hear from friends and well wishers, but especially he wants to hear from anyone who wants to be his forever person.
Onyx spent the second day of his travels with two children, Harper and Drew. The pictures have been updated on the PETwhat website.
Both kids were upset when Onyx had to leave on the next leg of his journey. Harper said to her mommy, "I thought we got to keep Onyx." When her mommy told her that Onyx had to leave with AJ and Andrea she started to cry and wailed, "But I love Onyx!" Harper and Drew were both sad to see Onyx go. They liked him "best of all", and because the pronunciation of the 'x' was tough for little Drew, he called Onyx, "Onick".

Click number to see another picture [2] [3] [4] or [VID] Onyx is close to a year old, and weighs 55lbs. He is at the perfect age to be adopted. He is house trained, and knows and obeys the " Sit!" and " Come!" commands. He is lovable, submissive, and full of energy. He will need a family that will play with him, and take him running and walking. He loves everyone he meets, and will play with any other dog. He would do well in a family with young children. Onyx will need daily exercise! He loves to run off leash, and he is fast, agile and athletic.
Onyx may be an athlete, but all athletes need rest and recuperation. High-energy is different from hyperactive — Onyx also likes to sleep. We have the proof: after his daily run, and after socializing with all the dogs and people at an adoption event, Onyx thought a short dog nap seemed like a good idea on a warm afternoon.
Onyx will need lots of chew toys in his new home, balls to play with, and plenty of attention. He is crate trained, and can be in a crate up to six hours alone without making a mess, and sleeps in his crate all night long with no accidents, or crying/barking. He would love to be part of a pack. If you already have a dog and are looking to add an addition to your family, then Onyx could be the one. If you camp, hike, bike and want a companion, then Onyx will be your best buddy.
